Mind blown, by what I am learning on my Breathwork Facilitator Training

What did a 5£ Starbucks coffee teach me about my breath?

Student Spotlight: Rosie Ignacz

During my breathwork facilitator training, when we learnt about the physiology of the body and what’s happening as we breathe, my mind was blown.

Our leader Ben (from Breathing Space), mentioned how “just” by changing our breathing pattern, we change the complete biochemistry of our body. And many times this happens automatically, like when running after the bus, being scared of something, or receiving good news.
But we can also do it with intention. Doing breathwork and different breathing techniques, helps us change our O2 and CO2 levels affecting our whole body therefore there is so much power within us (quite literally).

I just find it fascinating as I learn more in this course, how much control and power we have over our physical and emotional state. Yet it fills me with frustration that we are made to believe, we have to rely on outside support all the time. I wish in school, I would have learnt more about my body and how it functions, and how to handle my emotions. Providing some practical tools to use on a day-to-day basis.

I hope reading this reminds you how powerful you are, and even if you don’t know how yet, there are tools and techniques to support you, and you can learn about these too. Even if the educational system isn’t supporting this topic, we can teach ourselves and learn, no matter how old are we.
